Best Homemade Brownies Recipe

Ingredients:

For the brownie:
100g butter
100g soft brown sugar
4 eggs
100g self-raising flour
1 tbsp milk
Pinch of salt
Optional: 50g milk chocolate chips or 25g milk chocolate chips and 25g white chocolate chips

For the icing:
40g butter
25g cocoa powder
3 tbsp evaporated milk
100g icing sugar

Method:

1. Preheat the oven to gas mark 5/ 375° F
2. Grease a tin of approximately 11 by 7 inches and place grease-proof paper inside.
3. Beat the butter and sugar together in a bowl.
4. Whisk 4 eggs in a cup and add them slowly to the bow whilst mixing them in.
5. Sieve the flour, salt and cocoa powder into the bowl, add the milk and fold it. Optional: add the chocolate chips and mix.
6. Pour the mixture into the tin and cook for about 30 minutes, until the cake springs back. Test it is cooked through by pushing a skewer or dinner knife into the mixture, if it comes back clear, it is cooked. If there is some liquid on it, cook the brownie for a bit longer.
7. When the brownie is cooked, take it out and with a knife, slide around the edges to make sure the brownie is not stuck to the sides of the tray. Take the brownie out of the tray and leave to cool.
8. In a saucepan, melt the butter over a low heat.
9. Once the butter is melted, sieve the cocoa powder and mix. Turn the hob off.
10. Add the evaporated milk and sieve the icing sugar into the saucepan then mix well.
11. Put the brownie back into a tray and pour the icing over it. Leave to set.
12. Take the brownie out of the tray and cut it into pieces.
13. Enjoy!
